Today at Anime Expo Lite, Disney+ revealed the names for all seven of the Japanese animation studios that will be bringing Star Wars: Visions to life. Fans were also given a special look at the unique talents and perspectives that will be bringing these different shorts to life.

The seven studios are Kamikaze Douga, Geno Studio (Twin Engine), Studio Colorido (Twin Engine), Trigger, Kinema Citrus, Science Saru, and Production IG. Each studio will show its own vision of what Star Wars looks like through the lens of its own creativity, signature storytelling styles, and animation styles.

Lucasfilm’s Jacqui Lopez (Executive Producer), James Waugh (Executive Producer), Josh Rimes (Executive Producer), and Qubic Pictures’ Justin Leach (Co-Executive Producer) and Kanako Shirasaki (Producer) were at the event and revealed the studios and then give fans a special look at environment and concept art as they debuted the title and first details of each short.

Here is the list of the shorts:

  • Kamikaze Douga – The Duel
  • Geno Studio (Twin Engine) – Lop and Ochō
  • Studio Colorido (Twin Engine) – Tatooine Rhapsody
  • Trigger – The Twins
  • Trigger – The Elder

Each of the shorts will bear a “unique Japanese sensibility, which in many ways aligns with the tone and spirit of Star Wars storytelling.” This fits with Star Wars which has always leaned into Japanese mythology and the films of Akira Kurosawa as influences. These new studios’ visions will continue to explore those influences and heritage while providing unique animation styles and perspectives from each anime studio.

Star Wars: Visions will be released on Disney+ on September 22, 2021.
