The experience of building a lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has just become a little more expensive. According to the Walt Disney World Resort website, the experience is now $219.99 plus tax. This is $20 more expensive than its original price. The new price can be found on the Walt Disney World Resort website.
The experience has been a fan favorite since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened at Walt Disney World Resort and also the Disneyland Resort. Currently, the price remains at $199.99 plus tax for the Disneyland version with no reservations available. It is unknown if this will change once Disneyland reopens on April 30th. It would not be surprising to see it match Walt Disney World Resort’s price.
For the $219.99 plus tax, guests get the experience of building a lightsaber, the lightsaber, and a case. Payment is due on arrival. More accessories can be purchased at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. One guest can accompany and observe each guest who has purchased the experience and is building a lightsaber. They will not be able to build a lightsaber though unless they have purchased the experience. Reservations are highly encouraged for this experience as there is very limited space, especially now with COVID-19 safety protocols.
During the experience, the Gatherers bring guests into their workshop that is filled with parts and pieces from around the galaxy to build a lightsaber. Guests get to build one of for main styles of lightsaber:
- Peace and Justice – Salvaged scraps from fallen Jedi temples and crashed starships in these Republic-era designs honor the galaxy’s former guardians.
- Power and Control – Originally forged by dark side warriors, this style features rumored remnants from the Sith homeworld and abandoned temples.
- Elemental Nature – This theme embodies the Force—an energy created by all living things, like Brylark trees, Cartusion whale bones and Rancor teeth.
- Protection and Defense – Hilt materials bear mysterious motifs and inscriptions that reconnect users with the ancient wellspring of the Force.
For those wishing to purchase a legacy lightsaber at Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities at the Walt Disney World Resort or the Trading Post at the Disneyland Resort’s Trading Post at Downtown Disney, prices appear to have gone up for these as well. These lightsabers are now $10 more expensive. They do vary in price based on the model.
The DAPS MAGIC team documented the process on the opening day of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the Disneyland Resort. Below is a video of the experience. Do not watch it if you do not want the experience spoiled.
