Disneyland Resort Upgrades Security Checkpoints With Walk-Through Bag Check

The Disneyland Resort has adopted upgraded security measures currently found at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and EPCOT’s International Gateway. Today, DAPS MAGIC friend Stephen shared a photo of the new technology in use at the West entrance of the Downtown Disney District.

The new security checkpoints allow guests to walk through with their bags as opposed to having each bag individually searched. The system utilizes artificial intelligence to search for things inside bags that could appear to be at risk. Those that are flagged are then sent to a secondary screening station. This creates a system where cast members are not having to come into contact with most of the guests that are coming through security and creates a safer socially distant form or security.

This new system being used is called Evolv Express. It allows for more guests to move through security checkpoints quicker than traditional methods. According to its website, the system if 10 times faster than traditional methods and can screen 3,600 people per hour.

Evolv Express has the following description on its website:

Evolv Express™ is the world’s first and only touchless security screening solution that meets all of the post-pandemic security screening requirements. Express is up to ten times faster and far more effective than last generation products because it uses new sensor technology and artificial intelligence.

Unlike traditional metal detectors, Evolv Express is powered by the Evolv Cortex AI™ Software Platform enabling the system to spot weapons while ignoring harmless personal items. It keeps high volume entrances flowing by reliably detecting guns and other weapons as visitors walk through at a natural pace while carrying their phones and bags.

On a recent trip to Florida, members of the DAPS MAGIC team were able to experience the Evolv Express system. It was both fast and simple. It made for a much more pleasant experience entering the park. It also enabled the team to barely make it into Disney’s Hollywood Studios to get a boarding pass for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. The traditional way would most likely have been too slow. This system expedites entry into the park greatly.

DAPS MAGIC will continue to follow this story and see if Evolv Express continues to be more widely adopted at the Disneyland Resort while it waits for more information regarding the reopening of its parks and hotels.
