The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu – My First Impression

This morning, EA released their newest Sims expansion pack, The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu! I have been an avid player of The Sims for nearly two decades and when this expansion pack was announced, I knew I would be picking this game up again! Throughout the day, I was able to play a few hours and I want to share my first impressions of this expansion with you!

I want to start by saying I love this expansion! It is everything that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was marketed to be before the land opened on both coasts. You get a chance to interact firsthand with the Resistance, The First Order, or The Scoundrels! Your actions with each of these factions affect your experience on Batuu and make it harder to maneuver around each piece of the world.

The world of Batuu is a place that your Sim can vacation to. When you head to the world, it is sectioned into three parts for Resistance Encampment, Black Spire Outpost, and First Order District. If you have a familiarity with Batuu on either coast, it will definitely help you maneuver this virtual world as you play. While it feels familiar, it all feels so much bigger and more expansive. I found that the world feels different simply because there were so many more nooks and crannies to explore!

I have had a great time exploring the Resistance path! New to Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu, your sim can pick an aspiration of joining either the First Order or the Resistance or simply to mingle among the smugglers and the bounty hunters. My Sim aspires to join the Resistance and climb the ranks to defeat the First Order! My missions so far have included scrambling First Order transmissions and meeting with Scoundrels to gain important information. My next mission includes collection parts and fixing up an X-Wing for the Resistance!

While I have not encountered Kylo Ren or Rey just yet, I have loved getting to see more of Vi Moradi as she conducts my missions for the Resistance. I think this builds on her important role as General Organa’s top spy and I truly believe she deserves more appreciation when she’s out and about at Disneyland and Walt Disney World! In this expansion pack, you can also interact with Hondo Ohnaka as he hangs around Oga’s Cantina. If you decide to order any food or drink while you’re in the land, you may notice the menu items are very familiar if you have traveled to Batuu before!

This expansion pack has also added a few fun bits to your traditional gameplay, like Star Wars hairstyles, Batuu clothing, and Star Wars music that has been rewritten for The Sims! Even if you aren’t typically a video game player, I would say that this expansion pack to the main game is certainly filling the void while I cannot go to the parks in person! I definitely recommend it to any fans of Star Wars or Disney Parks and would love to see more Disney expansions in the future!

As I said, I have only had a few hours to play so far, so I am looking forward to when I can build my own lightsaber and droid, and I will be sure to share the experience with all of you! Have you had a chance to play yet? What path are you taking on Batuu? Be sure to connect with us on Twitter and Facebook to let us know how your journey is coming along!

  1. Did you experience any game crashes? After buying this pack, my game just vanishes with about 5 Minutes of play. Honestly, if I knew then, what I know now, I would not have purchased this pack.

    1. Hey there! Honestly, I haven’t experienced any game crashes since installing this expansion pack, though I had issues with expansion packs on my last laptop. I’m sorry to hear that and I hope any bugs fix itself soon!
