Disneyland Paris is again welcoming guests to experience Disney magic. This morning, in a brief ceremony, guests were welcomed back. The ceremony took place on Main Street, USA with Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant as a backdrop. Natacha Rafalski, president of Disneyland Paris, was joined by Mickey, Minnie, and other Cast Members, including several “Guardians of Magic” who were the ones taking care of Disneyland Paris during its closure. The opening ceremony was lovely with Disney magic, music, and even some bursts of color as guests were welcomed back.
“This long-awaited day is the result of incredible teamwork, from our cast members who are at the heart of the magic of our destination, as from our public partners who have continued to support us,” said Natacha Rafalski. “ Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for Disneyland Paris, where giving our customers the opportunity to share moments with family and friends has never been more important.”
As is happening around the world with the reopening of Disney theme parks, there are new safety protocols in place for those working and visiting. This includes mandatory face coverings, more cleaning, social distancing, and other protocols to ensure the comfort and safety of guests and Cast members.
Many of the attractions at Disneyland Paris were open upon the reopening of the parks. For thrills, guests could go for adventures on Big Thunder Mountain, Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. In the fantasy realm, people could fly off to Neverland again with Peter Pan’s Flight, race alongside Flash McQueen in Cars Four Wheels Rally, and learn to fly aboard Dumbo the Flying Elephant.
Disney characters can also be found throughout the parks in unique locations that enable guests to visit and get a socially distant picture with them. Later this summer, two shows The Lion King and the Rhythms of the Earth and The Rhythms of the Jungle will be returning to Disneyland Paris as well.
Dining locations protocols have been updated as well to help create a safer and more socially distant experience. The same has been done for shopping experiences. Guests experiencing them will find them similar but different as these new safety protocols are implemented.
The reopening of Disneyland Paris comes on the same day that Walt Disney World Resort is reopening EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. On Saturday, Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom reopened. It also comes on the day that Hong Kong Disneyland is closing again temporarily due to a surge in coronavirus cases in the region.
