Paul Rudd Joins Ghostbusters Cast

Paul Rudd Joins Ghostbusters 2020 Cast!

The Ghostbusters made a call and the call was answered by Paul Rudd. Rudd will be joining the cast of Ghostbusters 2020 as a teacher in a small town. The news came via a video released by Sony in front of the original Ghostbusters HQ in New York City.

“When I heard they were gonna call me, well, as you can imagine, I nearly slimed myself,” Rudd says in the video. “I can’t wait to join the cast this fall for Ghostbusters. In fact, I’m sliming myself right now.”

Director Jason Reitman has been pulling together a cast that includes original Ghostbusters cast members and also a whole new group of actors as well. “I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for Wet Hot American Summer at Sundance,” Jason Reitman said. “Thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe.” Most recently, Rudd has been known for his role as Ant-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While there isn’t an official plot synopsis from Sony yet, sources have told Variety that the next film will be a continuation of the Ghostbusters original story. It will focus on a single mom and her family. Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Mckenna Grace are all in talks to join the cast, potentially as this family. At this point, it isn’t known how this story will connect with the original. Some of the original cast is reportedly returning for this film as well.

Ghostbusters 2020 is being written by director Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan. Reitman plans to shoot this film later this summer and it will arrive in theaters next year.
