Avengers: Endgame is returning to theaters. With the movie coming within $50 million of reaching the all-time box office record currently held by Avatar, it appears Disney and Marvel are making one more push to take the crown. Currently, its take stands around $2.74 billion globally. Avatar holds the record at $2.78 billion.
During a press conference for Spider-Man: Far From Home, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed to comicbook.com that Marvel intends to re-release the film with new footage. He also confirmed that it will be coming very soon.
We are doing that. I don’t know if it’s been announced. And I don’t know how much… Yeah, we’re doing it next weekend.
Feigie shared more details about the re-release with Screenrant saying,
Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.
What exactly counts as “next weekend” isn’t known for sure yet. As Feige acknowledged might be the case, there hasn’t been an official announcement yet. However, CNBC is reporting that the movie would release on June 28 for a final push to top the $2.78 billion mark. Stay tuned to DAPS MAGIC for updates on this story, including an official announcement if and when that happens.
