Doctor Strange Director Scott Derrickson Returning for Sequel

Marvel's Doctor Strange

It appears that there is a sequel in the works for Doctor Strange. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson has finalized talks to return with Marvel to direct the sequel. The next step will be finding a screenwriter to pen the sequel.

While there aren’t a lot of details known about this film it is expected that Benedict Cumberbatch will be returning to play the title role. He will be joined by Benedict Wong, who portrayed his right-hand man. Rachel McAdams will most likely return as well.

Currently, Marvel is maintaining utmost secrecy around the project, and every other project that comes out after Avengers: Endgame. After the events of Avengers: Infinity War, this really isn’t much of a surprise. Avengers: Endgame will propel the Marvel Cinematic Universe into Phase Four.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, this Doctor Strange sequel is expected to figure out the script in 2019, work will begin on the production in 2020, and the movie will arrive in theaters in 2021.
