With time and technology, there are more and more different ways to experience Star Wars. Now thanks to Lucasfilm’s ILMxLab and Facebook’s Oculus, there will soon be another. On StarWars.com it was announced that the first episode of Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series will be arriving in 2019. This is the result of a collaboration between the two companies that began in 2016. It will be available exclusively on Facebook’s new Oculus Quest VR headset.
Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series isn’t being billed as a game. Rather, it is being described as an immersive and interactive story. People will be able to enter Darth Vader’s palace on Mustafar and become a part of the action and story themselves. This will be a part of the Star Wars canon and continue Darth Vader’s story. It will take place between the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. It will also connect to Secrets of the Empire, although it isn’t known how. Inside of Vader’s palace, people will be encountering Darth Vader himself and also wielding a lightsaber.
Facebook’s new Oculus Quest will be available in early 2019. It will go for $399 and will have over 50 games when it launches, including this one.
