After a wonderfully productive four decades, legendary animation director John Musker has taken his retirement from Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Musker, most well-known for his work with fellow luminary Ron Clements, made his directorial debut on The Great Mouse Detective, and went on to lead some of the most successful titles during his tenure, including The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and most recently Moana.
Others of his films, including Treasure Planet and The Princess and the Frog, have seen cult followings over the years, providing longevity to their success.
Several peers have credited Musker as an inspiration over the years, citing him as an example and innovator in the field.
Musker celebrated his retirement at the Pickwick Gardens in Burbank, CA with colleagues and friends, who shared kind words on the career and legacy of the artist, and a “taste of his own medicine” in the form of caricatures.
We here at DAPSmagic would like to wish the absolute best to Mr. Musker, as he moves on to his next adventure with his wife and three children!
