Mark Hamill Honored with Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Today Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker himself, was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The star can be found in front of the El Capitan Theatre. The event included special guests Harrison Ford, George Lucas, Billie Lourd, Kelly Marie Tran and R2-D2. The star is the 2,630th star to be placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The event celebrated Mark Hamill and the impact he has made on the Star Wars galaxy on #JediDay! Since originally appearing in 1977 as Luke Skywalker, Hamill has been beloved by fans around the globe.

During the event, both Harrison Ford and George Lucas spoke glowing words about Mark Hamill. “I’m very proud of Mark for getting this star,” Lucas said. “You’ve come a long way from that [Star Wars] casting session…to getting your star on Hollywood Boulevard.”

Harrison Ford reminisced about their original screentest that he had recently watched in preparation of the day’s events. Ford shared that “He had just the right blend of youthfulness and enthusiasm.”  Ford also shared his joy for Hamill on this special day saying, “He is, as he always was, a quiet, sincere, honest person…I’m happy for ya, pal.”

Mark Hamill addressed those in attendance saying  “Words truly fail me. It’s hard to convey my gratitude, my joy, the exhilaration of being recognized this way.” Hamill continued, “I haven’t been this speechless since The Force Awakens.” Hamill also thanked Lucas, Ford, Disney, and his family.  He shared the journey he took from childhood puppet shows to being a working actor.

He also showed his appreciation to his many Star Wars fans. “You are with me through thick and thin, and the highs and lows, and everywhere in between,” Hamill said. “From Jedi to Joker and back again, it’s been a fantastic ride. Thank you so much, and may the Force be with each and every one of you.

Hamill received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame ahead of Star Wars: The Last Jedi arriving on Digital Download on March 13, and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and On-Demand on March 27.
