Beginning this June, you can experience the world and the imagination of Jim Henson for yourself! The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited will open June 1 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles and will run until September 2, 2018.
The exhibit will feature more than 100 items that help build Jim Henson’s legacy, from special photographs to muppets, the exhibition will have an incredible amount to marvel at. From The Muppet Show, the Muppet movies, and Sesame Street to Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal, and Labyrinth, you can explore the body of work that Jim Henson created in his life with a powerful team of people behind him. After you explore the multitude of creative projects, you can end the day with a chance to create your own puppet and try your hand at puppeteering!
Jim Henson was born September 24, 1936, and went on to create some of the most influential creative programming that exists and inspires generations to this day. Jim Henson was the lead on the colorful Muppet portion of Sesame Street and went on to create titles of his very own. Henson went on to create The Muppets empire with television shows, movies, and even Disney attractions that still exist to this day. You can even get a deeper insight into what Jim Henson was like to work with on a professional level in the documentary Muppet Guys Talking that was released earlier this year.
