Disney to Remake the Film ‘Sister Act’

If you remember the 1992 film Sister Act, get ready for a remake. This time around, Disney will be in charge of the project. The film made $232 million worldwide back in 1992 under Touchstone Pictures.

The new installment will feature the work from writers Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The duo writing team has worked on previous films such as Legally Blonde, The House Bunny and 10 Things I Hate About You.

The original film starred Whoopi Goldberg and so far, there is no word if she will be returning for this film.

Allison Shearmur is said to produce. Shearmur had previously worked on Disney’s live action film, Cinderella.

No further information on plot or cast has been released.
