The Walt Disney Co. has unveiled Disney Xtreme Digital, the company's answer to MySpace, according to media reports.The Disney XD social networking site is aimed at children under 14 years of age. The service has built in parental controls that will limit kids' access to the site, including chat privileges and other methods of communication.
Users will be able to pull items from Disney's Web site to help build profile pages and will earn points by participating in games and other activities offered through the service.
A beta version of the service is currently available.
The Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS –News) is based in Burbank. Santa Monica's MySpace is part of the News Corp. (NYSE: NWS – News) conglomerate.
