ABC Family has netted tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams for a new reality TV show.
The show has no title, day or time yet, but is scheduled to premiere in July, the Disney-owned cable channel announced yesterday.
Nor are there any episodes. Production is just starting on the first six installments of the planned half-hour series, ABC Family said.
Like other reality shows built around celebrities, ABC Family’s new series will follow the tennis-playing sibs “as they find their place in the world outside of tennis,” the cable channel said. “You’ll see them interacting with their family and friends, find out what they do for fun, and also see them at their best on the court.”
At age 24 (Venus) and 23 (Serena), the Williams sisters are still active tennis pros. Serena is currently ranked fourth in the world; Venus, ninth. This week, they’re both playing in the NASDAQ-100 Open in Miami.
But outside of tennis, Serena has made forays into acting, with guest-starring stints on “My Wife and Kids,” “The Division,” “Street Time” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”
And Venus has started her own interior-design firm
