It is with great sadness that comedian and actor Robin Williams has passed away at the age of 63 of apparent suicide.
Known for many recognizable roles such as Mrs. Doubtfire and the Genie from Disney’s Aladdin, he will forever leave behind a legacy of great work.
Having had a large impact on the Disney community, his voice and talents were much appreciated. Voicing the Genie in Aladdin and Aladdin and the King of Thieves, he created a character that could not be duplicated. His originality shined through making the character a part of him.
Another Disney film Williams was known for was 1997’s Flubber. Starring as the lead role as professor creating a lovable green source of energy, audiences fell in love with him and his character.
His wife, Susan Schneider, released this statement following the announcement of his death:
“This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one if its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope that the focus will not be on Robin’s death but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
Robin Williams will be greatly missed and will always leave us smiling.
