On this day in 2000, ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’ was released by Disney’s Touchstone Pictures. It loosely adapted elements of Homer’s ‘The Odyssey’ into the Depression Era in the Deep South. Three convicts escape from a chain gang and go through a series of fantastical escapades while searching for hidden treasure and evading a relentless sheriff. The film’s main song, “I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow” helped the soundtrack win a Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
