Dumb Bell of the Yukon | DISNEY THIS DAY | August 30, 1946

On this day in 1946, the Donald Duck short 'Dumb Bell of the Yukon' was released. The story took some loose inspiration from the Russian fairy tale, “The Bear with a Wooden Leg” by A. N. Afanasev. Donald becomes the antagonist when he heads into the Yukon to hunt a bear so that Daisy can have a fur coat. He steals a baby grizzly bear from its den, but the mother soon realizes the baby is missing. Donald’s attempt to disguise himself as another baby bear is easily foiled. Only a honey spill can get him out of the misguided expedition!
