‘Newsies’ to End Broadway Run August 24

The popular Broadway production, Newsies, will be ending its performances at the Nederlander Theater on August 24. With the final production run at 1005 performances, it was originally intended to have 101 performances. With that being said, it sure was a popular show.

Newsies

Based off the 1992 Disney film, Alan Menken and Jack Feldman created songs that brought the story of the Newsboy Strike of 1899 to life. Newsies has a plot line surrounding a young newsboy who leads orphans in protest against the newspaper publishers.

Since its debut, this production has won two Tony awards: Best Choreography and Best Score.

Have no fear though. If you have not seen this production, Newsies North American Tour will begin October 2014, spanning over 25 cities. With 43 weeks of shows across the nation, there is still a chance for you to see the show.
