On this day in 1985, Mickey Mouse and Disneyland Ambassador Melissa Taylor embarked on a 30-day flight around the world. They were promoting Disneyland’s 30th anniversary celebration, which began the previous month. The festivities that year included the Gift Giver Extraordinaire, a machine that dispensed prizes to every 30th guest through the gates. Thousands of prizes were given out, like new GM cars, watches, plush toys, and admission tickets.
