Make it Gray! – Work Rapidly Continues on Cinderella Castle Painting Project

“Make it Blue!” “Make it Pink!” This is the argument that is heard in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Sleeping Beauty. Last year at Destination D23, it was announced that the Cinderella Castle would be getting a new paint scheme. This new paint scheme would be reminiscent of the classic colors that originally graced the castle at the Magic Kingdom. In this case, neither blue nor pink was the answer. Instead, the main color for the castle would be gray. As 2026 has gotten started, so too has the painting project for Walt Disney World Resort’s castle.

The new paint scheme moves away from the pink paint colors that came with Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. The new gray is complemented by gold accents and beautiful blue roofing. As the transformation progresses, how it will end up looking is starting to come into focus. As of February 28, 2026, the rear of the castle was mostly done, and the transformation is beginning to wrap around to the front of the castle. Friend of Daps Magic, Johnny, took the following photos of the progress of the castle.

Work still continues on the transformation of Cinderella Castle. However, judging by what can be seen to date, it appears that when this project is finished, it will be very similar to what the concept art showed. It also looks like it will begin a beautiful new era for this castle as guests take photos in front of it day after day.
