First Order Cargo Closed at Disneyland's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

First Order Cargo Closes at Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Another indication of the expansion of the timeline of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge could be seen at Disneyland this weekend. Guests visiting Batuu discovered that First Order Cargo had closed. This comes ahead of the arrival of Darth Vader and other characters from the original series. For guests currently visiting Black Spire Outpost at Disneyland, they will see that the massive door has closed for the shop. If one didn’t know any better, they wouldn’t realize a shop once stood there. It looks simply like another garage that could perhaps house a ship or speeder. Daps Magic team member Steven stopped by over the weekend and took the following photos of the closed First Order Cargo:

First Order Cargo

Recently, the Daps Magic team stopped by Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to document what it was like before the bigger changes began. Photos of First Order Cargo can be seen below, along with a video tour that includes the now-closed shop. The official description for First Order Cargo was as follows:

The First Order has recently arrived in Black Spire Outpost in pursuit of the Resistance. Report for duty and make your way to Docking Bay 9 where the First Order has set up a temporary post next to their shuttle to win the hearts and minds of the locals. Browse for gear and other products to show your support for the First Order.

Black Spire Surplus

In the future, the shop will become Black Spire Surplus. In an interview with StarWars.com, Lucasfilm senior creative executive Matt Martin shared about the new shop and its backstory. He shared the following:

Black Spire Surplus was founded by two former clone troopers who fought alongside each other in the Clone Wars and became close friends. Years later, one of those soldiers joined the Empire and served as an Imperial stormtrooper, while the other signed up with the Rebellion. But as they got older, they decided to retire and team up as friends and business partners, opening their new venture on Batuu.

Black Spire Surplus isn’t the only change coming to a shop at Black Spire Outpost. Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, Savi’s Workshop, and Droid Depot will all be receiving updates. “Dok is always getting new shipments and new antiques,” Martin says. “We’re going to see some new items on display — potentially some Easter eggs that people will recognize from some of the more recent live-action TV series.”

More Changes Coming

There will be more changes coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland in the coming month and a half. The land will ultimately see its timeline officially expanded on April 29, 2026. With this change, guests will get to see characters and experience the storylines from three eras of Star Wars stories:

  • Galactic Civil War – The era of the war between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance. This is where guests will find Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and his Imperial Stormtroopers. Expect the Rebels to be found near the Millennium Falcon and Darth Vader with his Stormtroopers near the TIE Echelon. This could lead to some conflict as Darth Vader and his Imperial Stormtroopers seek out the Rebels and, more specifically, Luke Skywalker. Luke may be wandering around a bit more in this area of the land and may be found near Savi’s Workshop.
  • New Republic – This is the era that is commonly referred to as the “Mandoverse.” Guests will find Ahsoka Tano and the Mandalorian himself with Grogu. This era will be found near the Marketplace.
  • Age of the Resistance – This is the era that includes the most recent movies in the Star Wars universe. It is the era of Rey, and this area in Galaxy’s Edge is where she may be found.

The expanded timeline will also see the addition of the iconic music of John Williams to the land as well. As guests stroll around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, they will hear music from the first six films in the Skywalker Saga.
