The Walt Disney Company Annual Shareholders Meeting always brings big news for the company when it comes to announcements for Disney Experiences, Disney Studios, and other divisions of the Company.
Two big announcements came from Walt Disney Studios and Pixar Animation Studios regarding film releases. “Lilo and Stitch 2” will be released May 26, 2028, while “Incredibles 3” will be released June 16, 2028.

“Lilo and Stitch 2” was first announced on June 26, 2025, also known as “Stitch Day” following the success of the live-action “Lilo and Stitch,” which was released in Memorial Day Weekend 2025.
“Lilo and Stitch” follows the story of Stitch, an extraterrestrial entity, who comes to Earth after escaping prison, where he tries to impersonate a dog. Things take a turn when a lonely Hawaiian girl, Lilo, adopts him from an animal shelter and he helps mend her broken family. Chris Sanders is set to join as a screenwriter, making it his first involvement in the franchise since the original film beyond providing the voice of Stitch. Jonathan Eirich is also set to return as producer for the sequel.
The live-action “Lilo & Stitch” hit a holiday opening record with $182 million over 4days, and overtook 2023’s Top Gun: Maverick ($160.5 million). The movie was one of the few billion-dollar grossing pics from last year, earning $423.7 million in the United States and $614.2 million overseas.
“Lilo and Stitch” was first released as an animated feature film in June 21, 2002.
Another sequel’s release date was also announced during the Shareholders Meeting. “Incredibles 3” will be released in theaters three weeks after “Lilo and Stitch 2” on June 16, 2028.
The release of “Incredibles 3” will follow the two other “Incredibles” films, which were originally released in October 2004 and June 2018 respectively.
“Incredibles” follows Bob and Helen Parr, a superhero couple respectively known as Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl, who hide their powers in accordance with a government mandate that outlawed superheroes, and attempt to live a quiet suburban life with their three children. However, Bob’s desire to help people draws the entire family into a confrontation with a vengeful fan-turned-foe.
Peter Sohn, director of Pixar’s Elemental, will also be directing Incredibles 3 for Pixar Animation Studios. Brad Bird, who wrote the screenplays for the first two films and also directed them, is writing the screenplay for the third film.
The previous two “Incredibles” movies minted $1.87 billion combined at the global box office.
