This morning, Pixar released the newest trailer of Toy Story 5 before the film’s release in theaters on June 19. In the trailer, we see a reunion of old friends while they attempt to protect the imagination and creativity of childhood.
“Toys are for play, but tech is for everything.”
The trailer opens with Bonnie creating a fantastical wedding for her toys. There is love, drama, and mystery while she creates a world with her own imagination. All of this changes when she opens up a new tech toy as a gift. After “Lily” enters the picture, Bonnie stops playing with her toys and becomes distracted, even withdrawing from her family.
The toys call in the best toy for the job, Woody! He shares that the outside world is just as messy, with toys being abandoned all the time. Woody pauses his rescue mission with Bo Peep to return to Buzz and Jessie and attempt to help in any way he can.
The trailer pokes some fun at the toys being “older” but it is nice to see the trio reunited. Even hearing “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” is a lovely reminder that, no matter what happens in life, you will always have your friends by your side to get through it!
