25 years ago today Disney California Adventure opened as Disney’s California Adventure. Daps Magic team member Doug Marsh was one of the first 30 people to get into the park on that day. He wrote about the day and park here. Through the last quarter of a century, Disney California Adventure has had many different offerings that have connected with different guests as they have made memories at this second park at the Disneyland Resort. For some, it is all about “DCA 1.0.” Others have fallen in love with “DCA 2.0.” This is a park that continues to evolve, innovate, and move forward. This is very much like the state of California, which does the same.

On this 25th anniversary of Disney California Adventure, there are lots of different offerings through the years that could be honored. It would be easy to look back at Superstar Limo or even Muppet*Vision 3D when thinking about attractions. Eureka comes to mind in terms of entertainment. However, what comes even more prominently to my mind and my heart is the Red Car News Boys. This spirited entertainment offering was full of heart, hope, spirit, and Disney magic. To me, it embodied what Disney California Adventure has always been about. It is about pursuing dreams with little more than the passion for this pursuit. It is about facing obstacles and pushing through them, and maybe singing a song with a friend while doing them. It is about always looking towards the future with hope and not getting tripped up by the challenges of the present (or the past).

For these reasons on this 25th anniversary of Disney California Adventure, we remember the Red Car News Boys. I hope you enjoy this performance from 2012 when the show debuted on the newly opened Buena Vista Street.
