‘Zootopia 2’ Enters New Year As Highest Grossing Disney Animated Movie

,

2025 was a good year for Walt Disney Animation Studios. As the famed animation studio enters the new year, it also has a movie with a new record. Zootopia 2 continues to show success at the box office. The movie has now earned $1.46 billion globally at the box office. This puts it in the position as the highest-grossing Disney animated film of all time. Previously, 2019’s Frozen 2 held this title for Disney with $1.5 billion.

At this point, Zootopia 2 has earned $333 million domestically and $1.13 billion internationally. Over the Christmas holiday weekend alone, the film brought in $87.9 million. Other milestones the film has reached were hitting the $1 billion mark after only 17 days in theaters. This was a record for a PG film. It has also earned over $500 million at the box office in China. This is the most for a Hollywood film in 2025.

Zootopia 2 is one of three films to cross the $1 billion mark at the global box office this year. One of the others is Disney’s live-action Lilo and Stitch, which earned $1.03 billion. The animated Ne Zha 2 from China earned $2.2 billion.
