900 Millionth Guest Arrives at Tokyo Disney Resort

Tokyo Disney Resort Celebrates 900 Millionth Guest

On April 15, 1983, Tokyo Disneyland opened. Now, 42 years and 266 days later, Tokyo Disney Resort welcomed its 900 millionth guest. Over the last four decades, millions of guests from Japan and around the world have been visiting Tokyo Disney Resort and experiencing the magic of two fantastic parks: Tokyo Disneyland, the first international Disney park, and Tokyo DisneySea, the first and only Disney park that is themed to the sea. As is so often the case with Disney, things are just getting started!

“Today, we welcomed our 900 millionth guest to Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. I am truly grateful and happy to be able to celebrate this momentous day. I would like to express my gratitude to the countless guests who have visited Tokyo Disney Resort, to the Walt Disney Company who is our important partner, to all those who have continuously supported Oriental Land Co., Ltd., and to the cast members who bring happiness to our guests every day,” Wataru Takahashi, Representative Director, President and COO, Oriental Land Co., Ltd., said.

Takahashi continued, “The Tokyo DisneySea 25th “Sparkling Jubilee” special event will commence this April. Cast members will give their utmost to deliver guests a fun and unforgettable celebration of the 25th anniversary of Tokyo DisneySea, the only Disney park themed to the sea. In coming years at Tokyo Disneyland, a new attraction based on the world of the Walt Disney Animation Studios film Wreck-It Ralph will make its debut, and Space Mountain and its surrounding area will be renovated. Tokyo Disney Resort will continue to evolve.”

“On behalf of The Walt Disney Company, I am proud to join in the celebration of Tokyo Disney Resort welcoming its 900 millionth guest. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our cast members and our colleagues at Oriental Land Company, thank you all for your passion and dedication. We are grateful for each and every guest who has visited Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea over the past 42 years, and we are honored to be creating magic every day for you,” Martina Sardelli, Vice President, Operations, The Walt Disney Attractions Ltd., said.

“Today, we celebrate the 900 millionth guest milestone. We are thrilled to have been able to share precious experiences with our guests, who hail from all over Japan and the world to visit Tokyo Disney Resort,” Shingo Kameda and Hikaru Hamanaka, 2026–2027 Tokyo Disney Resort Ambassadors, said. “We, as cast members, have been able to create many special memories with our guests. On behalf of all cast members, we would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. We will continue to keep the magic alive so that Tokyo Disney Resort forever remains a place where dreams come true.”

In April of this year, Tokyo DisneySea will begin the celebration of its 25th anniversary. This “Sparkling Jubilee” event will be full of Disney magic, entertainment, merchandise, food, and more!

Tokyo Disneyland also has exciting things on the horizon. In Tomorrowland, there will be a new attraction coming that is inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film, Wreck-It Ralph. A reimagined Space Mountain is also taking shape. This will be the centerpiece of a revitalized Tomorrowland when it is completed.

Throughout Tokyo Disney Resort, there are plenty of new things to experience and discover. This includes the newly opened Fantasy Springs. This beautiful new port at Tokyo DisneySea opened just over a year ago. It brings the stories of several favorite Disney animated films to life. This includes Frozen, Peter Pan, and Tangled. There are beautiful attractions, themed dining, and plenty of magical details.

If all of that wasn’t enough, Tokyo DisneySea is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of Duffy and Friends. This is being done with Colorful Happiness, a happy and heartwarming event that is filled with vibrant décor, adorable merchandise, and themed treats. There is also a happy boat parade that features Duffy and his pals in their celebratory outfits as they sail around the waterways of Tokyo DisneySea.

Since the Tokyo Disney Resort opened in 1983, it has become one of the most popular and beloved destinations around the world. Through the years, the Tokyo Disney Resort has continued to grow and evolve. From the early days of Tokyo Disneyland on to the grand opening of Tokyo DisneySea in 2001, the resort has continued to “keep moving forward.”

With that in mind, as Tokyo Disney Resort celebrates the 900 millionth guest, it is exciting to look towards the future and imagine what will happen by the time the 1 billionth guest arrives!
