It is a very exciting time to be a fan of The Muppets. During ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, a new trailer for The Muppet Show was released. This came after a New Year’s Eve video from Bean Bunny and Fozzie Bear. The week before, two videos came out for Christmas, one with Miss Piggy and Bean Bunny and another with Miss Piggy and Rizzo the Rat. Both Bean Bunny and Rizzo the Rat have been absent from the lineup of The Muppets for quite some time.
For the first day of 2026, The Muppets released yet another new video on social media. This one sees Rizzo the Rat taking center stage to take on the topic of New Year’s Resolutions. However, it turns out that Rizzo is not a fan of resolutions and instead suggests his own alternative: Rizzolutions. Check out the following Rizzolutions from Rizzo for the New Year:
The new videos for The Muppets come ahead of the February 4th arrival of The Muppet Show on Disney+ and ABC. This will see Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzy, Bauregard, Uncle Deadly, and Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. They will be joined by special guest star Sabrina Carpenter. The New Year’s Eve teaser revealed that Seth Rogen isn’t just an executive producer for the special, he is also appearing in the show.
The Muppet Show special event is being executive-produced by Seth Rogen, who is appearing in the show as well. Sabrina Carpenter is the special guest for the program. The special will come to life with the performances of longtime Muppet performers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel. They will be joined by some other muppet performers to bring the show to life. Goelz was in the original version of The Muppet Show 50 years ago. He originated characters like Gonzo and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, and others.
Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee will be executive producing the special for Point Grey Pictures. Albertina Rizzo will write and executive produce; Alex Timbers will direct and executive produce. David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter, and Michael Steinbach will be executive producers for The Muppets Studio. Matt Vogel and Eric Jacobson are also executive producers. 20th Television and Disney Branded Television will be bringing this new show to screens.
