The Lunar New Year celebration begins at the Disneyland Resort on January 23rd and continues through February 22nd. During this celebration, there will be multiple ways to celebrate the Year of the Horse. This includes some incredible food, beverage, and novelty offerings along with merchandise, entertainment, and unique character meet-and-greet opportunities.

A new character meet-and-greet opportunity this year is with Red Panda Mei from Pixar Animation Studios’ Turning Red. Panda Mei will be found throughout the Lunar New Year celebration at the Pixar Pier Band Shell in Disney California Adventure. This will be the first time that guests will get the opportunity to meet Mei in her full red panda form at the Disneyland Resort. Previously, the character has appeared in Better Together – A Pixar Pals Celebration parade.

There will also be several characters that will be debuting brand new outfits. These will showcase cultural representation. Characters with new outfits will include Donald Duck and Daisy Duck donning traditional Chinese attire and Goofy and Clarabelle Cow wearing attire inspired by Vietnamese traditions. 

The celebration will also see the return of Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession. This year, Horace Horsecollar will be leading this procession as the Year of the Horse is being celebrated. Horace will be joined by Chip ‘n’ Dale, who will be wearing brand new Chinese-inspired outfits. Here is a look at Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession from 2025:
