Exciting things are going on with LEGO! Today, the new LEGO SMART Play was announced. This includes new LEGO Star Wars sets that are powered by the new LEGO SMART Brick. These new sets will be available starting on March 1, 2026. They will be found at DisneyStore.com and other select retail locations and markets. Below is more information about this new way to play with LEGO.

New LEGO SMART Play Platform Featuring LEGO Star Wars

The new LEGO SMART Play platform is a new play innovation that allows brick builders to bring their LEGO creations to life in a completely new way. This will extend the joy of LEGO brick building beyond the construction phase. The new LEGO SMART Play platform was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show today. It marks oneof the most significant innovations in the LEGO System-in-Play since the introduction in 1978 of the LEGO Minifigure.

This new system is made up of three platform elements:

  • LEGO SMART Brick
  • LEGO SMART Tags
  • LEGO SMART Minifigures

This new LEGO SMART Play system allows brick-built creations to react in real time. This adds an interactive play experience to LEGO fans of all ages.

The heart of this innovative new system is the LEGO SMART Brick. This is powered by a custom-made ship, which is smaller than a standard LEGO stud. This little brick is packed with technologies to bring play to life. It allows paired LEGO SMART Tags and LEGO SMART minifigures to become interactive and also responsive.

The first LEGO SMART Play-enabled sets will be included with the LEGO Star Wars line. There will be three ‘All-in-One’ LEGO Star Wars building sets initially. They include:

  • LEGO Star Wars SMART Play: Luke’s Red Five X-Wing
  • LEGO Star Wars SMART Play: Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter
  • LEGO Star Wars SMART Play: Throne Room Duel & A-Wing

This new technology will allow fans and brick building to bring the iconic sounds of Star Wars to life with these new SMART features that fans can unlock. This will include Lightsaber hums with the SMART Minifigures of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. They will also hear the engine roar of the A-wing. If that isn’t enough, the Imperial March theme music will be heard with Emperor Palpatine sitting on his throne!

Each of the ‘All-in-One’ LEGO Star Wars sets will include a LEGO SMART Brick with charger, along with at least one LEGO SMART Minifigure and LEGO SMART tag.
