On this day in 1936, the cartoon ‘Mickey’s Polo Team’ was released. The short reflects Walt Disney’s own love of polo, a sport which caught the interest of Hollywood’s elite at the time. Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and the Big Bad Wolf take on movie stars Laurel and Hardy, Harpo Marx, and Charlie Chaplin in a wacky polo game. A cadre of 1930s celebrities and Disney characters look on in the stands. ‘Mickey’s Polo Team’ is one of the six shorts that often plays at Disneyland’s Main Street Cinema. [90 years ago in 2026]
