TIME has recognized The Walt Disney Company as one of “America’s Most Iconic Companies.” This puts Disney on a list of 250 companies that were chosen because they have shaped the nation’s economic and cultural landscape.
The list was put together as part of a feature highlighting the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. Disney was highlighted as an enduring name in the media industry as it brings American storytelling that reflects the country’s spirit of optimism, ambition, and innovation to audiences globally.
“For over a century, Disney has been woven into the American story, with beloved characters and timeless tales that have brought magic, joy and wonder to generations,” Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, said. “Walt Disney’s enduring vision for this great company remains our inspiration, shaping the creativity, curiosity and innovation that fuel our storytelling today. The dreams Walt envisioned for Disney continue to grow, taking us into the future and pushing the boundaries of what is possible for generations to come.”
Along with spotlighting The Walt Disney Company, TIME also highlighted ESPN because of its status as a preeminent sports media brand.
TIME shared that this list is “a comprehensive analysis that seeks to identify entities that have not only achieved commercial success but have also become deeply ingrained in the American identity, shaping perceptions, habits, and aspirations.”
The honor comes as The Walt Disney Company is also celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. Last week, it participated in the Tournament of Roses Parade. It is also celebrating in other ways including the debut of Soarin’ Across America later this year. Disney Celebrates America will build up to the 4th of July with special programming, storytelling, and experiences throughout the company.
