Disney Celebrates America at the Rose Parade

Disney Celebrates 250th Anniversary of United States of America in Tournament of Roses Parade

Disney is celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. This celebration began on Veterans’ Day in 2025 and continues through the 4th of July this year. Earlier this week, Disney participated in the 137th Rose Parade in Pasadena with an entry called Disney Celebrates America. This is part of a larger initiative that pulls together different parts of The Walt Disney Company to honor America’s past, celebrate the present, and inspire its future.

“At its heart, America’s story is one of imagination, ambition, and possibility – the same ideals that have guided Disney since the beginning,” said Robert A. Iger, Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company. “This celebration honors both a nation and a spirit that never stop dreaming about what’s next.”

Despite the rain, spirits were high as a Main Street Vehicle from Disneyland, which was decked out with patriotic colored flowers, made its way down the parade route. On board were Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. They were joined by over 50 U.S. military veterans who now serve as Disney cast members and their families. This was symbolic of the long tradition that Disney has in working with the United States military. This began over 100 years ago with its founders and continues today with initiatives like Heroes Work Here.

Disney shared about how the flowers for this vehicle were chosen specifically to hold special meaning for those who serve the USA in uniform. It was adorned with patriotic-looking red, white, and blue flowers. They held special significance for military veterans. The flowers included red poppies, which are recognized as a symbol of remembrance for fallen military personnel, dating all the way back to World War I. These flowers were joined by rosemaries, blue irises, white lilies, chrysanthemums, and red roses to express love, honor, and appreciation for veterans everywhere.

This entry in the parade continued the legacy that Walt Disney and his brother Roy O. Disney started with their own service during World War I. They continued to contribute throughout the rest of their lives. The company they founded continues to contribute and support U.S. military members, veterans, and their families today. Disney also contributed $2.5 million to Blue Star Families.
