Al Nassar - Keeping It Special

Al Nassar to Be Special Guest at Walt’s Barn on January 18

Walt’s Barn opens once a month for Disney fans or curious guests to visit at Griffith Park. Walt Disney’s Carolwood Barn is Walt’s original workshop. It could also be considered the birthplace of Imagineering. Along with the opportunity to visit this historic building, guests can also check out some of the displays that are found there. This includes treasures from the backyard railroads of Walt Disney, Ward Kimball, and Ollie Johnson. There is also an operating model of Disneyland’s classic Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland attraction. If that isn’t enough, there is also a restored Santa Fe and Disneyland Railroad combine car and Ollie Johnston’s backyard La Canada Valley Railroad depot.

This month will also have a special guest in attendance for the opening of Walt’s Barn. On January 18th, longtime Disneyland cast member Al Nassar will be on hand with his book, Keeping It Special. This takes a look at how he has made magical memories during the course of his over 30-year career at The Happiest Place on Earth. His book will be on hand for purchase and signing during the event.

Walt’s Barn will be open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2026. During this time, guests can check out the exhibits, meet Al, and enjoy a fantastic community of Disney fans who are also in attendance. At 2:30 PM, there will be a formal flag retreat ceremony that closes out the event before people go home.
