Just 20 days after making its way into theaters, Zootopia 2 is now the highest-grossing Hollywood movie of the year. To date, it has earned $1.13 billion globally, surpassing the $1 billion mark earlier this week. It has now passed Disney’s live-action version of Lilo & Stitch at the box office to take the top spot of the year. Lilo & Stitch earned $1.03 billion. While this movie is now the top film out of Hollywood for the year, China’s Ne Zha 2 currently holds the top spot globally. The animated film has earned $1.9 billion to date.
Zootopia 2 continues to break records at the box office. After a solid start in theaters, it became the fastest PG movie to reach $1 billion at the box office in 17 days. Currently, it is the seventh most successful animated film in history. It has now surpassed Zootopia ($1.025 billion) and Moana 2 ($1.06 billion) as it continues to rise towards the top.
The film has also contributed to Disney’s solid box office receipts in 2025. It has already earned over $5 billion at the box office. This is the second year in a row that the House of Mouse has done this. The company also did this in 2018. It is the only Hollywood studio to achieve this feat. This also comes ahead of the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash. This James Cameron film will take fans back to the world of Pandora and is expected to continue this franchise’s solid run in theaters.
