Todd James Pierce and Other Authors to Appear at Walt’s Barn

On Sunday, December 21, 2025, Walt’s Barn will once again be open to the public. Along with getting to see and experience this historic building and its exhibits, guests can also have the chance to meet with Tood James Pierce, the author of Making Mary Poppins, and other authors. Walt’s Barn will open at 11:00 AM and continue until 3:00 PM. Other authors that will be in attendance include Ken Bruce, Stan Freese, Bob Weis, and Don Hahn. Santa Claus will also be on hand starting at noon ahead of his big trip around the world a few days later. Below are the specifics for this event!

The Carolwood Foundation will open Walt Disney’s Carolwood Barn to the public on Sunday, December 21 from 11am to 3pm. Joining us will be Todd James Pierce, author of Making Mary Poppins. Todd Pierce will be joined by authors Ken Bruce (Before the Birds Sang Words), Stan Freese (Music, Mayhem and the Mouse) and Bob Weis (Dream Chasing). JUST ADDED: Don Hahn (Happiest Place on Earth). If you missed any of these authors in our previous public days, this is your opportunity to meet them and have your copy of their book signed.

Santa Claus will be arriving at noon to greet children young and old and to take photos in from of our vintage Santa Fe and Disneyland Railroad car.

During your visit you are invited to tour Walt Disney’s Carolwood Barn, Walt’s original home workshop and the birthplace of Imagineering. Displays include treasures from the backyard railroads of Walt Disney, Ward Kimball and Ollie Johnston, as well as an operating model of Disneyland’s classic Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland attraction.

Also on the property are the restored Santa Fe and Disneyland Railroad combine car and Ollie Johnston’s backyard La Canada Valley Railroad depot.

At 2:30pm you are invited to join us for our formal flag retreat ceremony to signal the close of our operating day.

The Carolwood Foundation is open to the public the third Sunday of each month from 11am to 3pm. Reservations and tickets are not required to visit Walt’s Barn and associated displays. Parking is free and available on a first come, first served basis.
