Disney Destiny

Susan Egan Named Disney Destiny Godmother

Ahead of the christening later today for the Disney Destiny, Susan Egan has been named the godmother for this new ship. Egan has brought some favorite Disney characters to life. This includes originating the role of Belle on Disney on Broadway’s Beauty and the Beast and voicing Megara in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Hercules. Now, as godmother for the Disney Destiny, she continues with a new role at Disney. This is a role that is a part of a longstanding maritime tradition where a godparent bestows a special blessing of good luck on a ship during its christening ceremony. This brings good fortune to the vessel, its crew, and all the guests who sail aboard.

The announcement was posted on social media with the following video:

Along with performing Belle in 1994 on Broadway (for which she was nominated for a Tony Award), she also served as the singing voice for Angel in Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp’s Adventure. She is also an executive producer of live concert entertainment worldwide for Disney Music Group.

For guests who sail aboard the Disney Destiny, there are several stories that Susan Egan helped bring to life to be found around the ship. This includes the new Broadway-style show, Disney Hercules, and Café Megara, to name just two. For fans of Beauty and the Beast, there is the adult-only French-inspired The Rose to enjoy a beverage or perhaps dine at Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement.

The Disney Destiny will go on its maiden voyage on November 20th. The christening takes place today, November 10th. More details about this ship can be found on Daps Magic’s Disney Destiny page. Visit DisneyCruise.com to book across aboard this heroic (or is it villainous!?) ship!
