On this day in 2012, the animated short ‘Paperman’ was released in front of ‘Wreck-It Ralph.’ The romantic comedy follows a man who falls in love at first sight with a woman on the train. He uses a swarm of paper airplanes to regain her attention in a heartwarming fashion. The short employed a mix of hand-drawn and computerized animation. ‘Paperman’ won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, the first Disney short to do so since 1969.
