When I think of things that I’m grateful for and make me happy from the realm of Disney and positive stuff, one thing pops up quite frequently. The Kilimanjaro Safaris is that thing. Ever since I first experienced it in 2008, I have been hooked on this attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It has evolved a bit since then, but at its core, it is still an incredible experience that gives a lovely look at a wide variety of animals in recreations of their natural habitats.
While driving through the Kilimanjaro Safaris, I love getting to see the giraffes, the elephants, and of course the lions! I always end up taking a ton of photos that I never end up posting anywhere. I really need to change this. I do enjoy the challenge of both spotting the animals and then capturing them with my camera. This is particularly true with the lions, which seem to be the hardest to photograph. There have been numerous times I have brought my zoom lens specifically for this attraction, only for the lions to be asleep in a position that is mostly out of sight. Even when I don’t get that perfect shot, I still enjoy this experience that brings me closer to animals.

I have always loved animals. This attraction is a fantastic way to connect with animals we wouldn’t normally see here in the United States of America. I’m thankful for the opportunity to see these animals. Every time on this attraction is different, and that also makes it fun. There is something extra special about the unexpected and unscripted moments that happen because this is an attraction that moves around wild animals (like a giraffe or rhino getting on the road and stopping everything!). It is something I look forward to every time I visit Walt Disney World. As I write this, I’m looking forward to experiencing it again and am thankful for the number of times I have already been able to do so.
