As we get closer to Thanksgiving, the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort have also now arrived. Traditionally, my family likes to put off the Christmas season until after Thanksgiving. However, as time has gone by, I’ve really come to enjoy intertwining Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year celebrations altogether. Oh, should I add Life Day into this equation as well? Hrmm… maybe. They all have themes that are about being grateful, family/community, and giving in one way or another. Many of these themes can also be found in one way or another when riding it’s a small world. This is an attraction about community, celebrating our commonalities as humans, and about being kind to our neighbors around the world.
When it’s a small world Holiday comes along, these themes are amplified with a couple of holiday tunes and beautiful Christmas lights at night! it adds to the magic and the merriment of the season. It is something that adds additional magic to a ride that is already enchanting. With the return of the holiday version of this attraction this week, I couldn’t help but smile as I floated through the different parts of the world that are represented. The music is happy. The scenery is happy. The people are happy. Some kids behind me were having a blast seeing the different characters and decorations throughout the ride. Then, as day turns to night, the attraction gets even more beautiful with the illumination of the lights on its facade.
It is so easy in this day and age to get caught up in everything that is going on around us. It is easy to forget that it really is a small world after all. We do have a lot that we share in this world, and I am thankful for the people I get to share it with. The brilliance of it’s a small world and it’s a small world Holiday is found in its simplicity. This is a message that is simple and straightforward. It is one I am thankful for and am glad that it continues on.
