Figment is one of my favorite Disney characters. This little purple dragon embodies the spirit of imagination, and looking at him always inspires me to use that muscle. He also makes me smile. He is lovable, funny, and uplifting. In many ways, I think he is a wonderful representation of the imagination of Walt Disney that continues on at the Imagination Pavilion and EPCOT.
I also love hearing Dreamfinder sing about him. In the Sherman Bros. song, One Little Spark, he describes Figment in the following way: “Two tiny wings, eyes big and yellow, horns of a steer, but a lovable fellow. From head to tail, he’s royal purple pigment, and there, voila, you’ve got a Figment”. This song is a fantastic reminder that everything comes with “one little spark of inspiration.” So many things have come to be that we love because of that moment of inspiration. Figment personifies that.
So often as we go through our day-to-day lives, it is easy to get caught up in everything that is going on around us. Figment is a wonderful reminder to find the joy in the moments around us. He is also a reminder that there are so many things that can be inspiring around us. Those things can lead to even greater things with a little figment of imagination. For these things, and so many more, I’m thankful for Figment!
