The Earl of Sandwich location that is currently found near World of Disney and the Esplanade at Downtown Disney District will soon be permanently closed. This comes after the closure of The Earl of Sandwich Tavern after operating hours yesterday. When the Earl of Sandwich closes today at this location, it will be for the last time. This comes ahead of the opening of a new location for the business on the west end of Downtown Disney District. In the time between the closure of this location and the opening of its permanent location, the pop-up Earl of Sandwich will remain open. This is found next to the Star Wars Trading Post.

The closure of this location comes as it makes way for a Porto’s to make its home on the space. The building will be demolished ahead of the construction of a new home for Porto’s at the Disneyland Resort. This was first announced at the 2022 D23 Expo.

When the new permanent location opens in Downtown Disney District, it will include the quick service option that fans know and love. It will also include a sit-down gastropub called Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby. This will be found on the second level of the Earl of Sandwich. The creators of the Earl of Sandwich and world-famous Chef Gordon Ramsay are developing this all-new British-themed gastropub. It will include some of Ramsay’s signature dishes to accompany the pub’s own British pop energy of the swinging ’60s London.

The closure of this location of Earl of Sandwich and the opening of its permanent one are part of a substantial transformation of Downtown Disney District. This has seen many new restaurants and businesses coming to the Disneyland Resort’s shopping, dining, and entertainment district. There have also been some transformations of businesses and restaurants already in the district.
