Disney Will Be Thankful for ‘Zootopia 2’ if Box Office Predictions Prove to Be True

,

If tracking numbers prove to be even remotely true, Disney will be very thankful for Zootopia 2. The sequel to 2016’s Zootopia will be arriving in theaters officially on November 26, 2025. When it does, some industry experts are saying that the film looks like it could make upwards of $500 million globally by Sunday.

Experts expect it to make around $150 million in the United States alone. In China alone, it is possible that the film could make an incredible $200 million over the opening weekend. Combine that with other international markets, and the film reaches that $500 million mark. Other, more conservative estimates have the film still earning nearly $300 million globally. If either of the estimates ends up being true, it will cement the Zootopia franchise as a tentpole in the Disney library of films.

Already, Disney has been building on the franchise outside of theaters. At Shanghai Disneyland, a Zootopia-themed land has already been created. Disney’s Animal Kingdom recently opened a new 4D experience called Zootopia: Better Zoogether! At the Disneyland Resort, Officer Clawhauser joined Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde to meet long lines of guests who were excited about the characters and this new film.

Advanced screenings of Zootopia 2 begin this afternoon. Already, over $20 million has been spent in advanced ticket sales. This could put this film on track with Inside Out 2. This Pixar film made $154.2 million over its 3-day opening weekend.
