On this day in 1910, animator, multi-talented artist, and Disney Legend Tyrus Wong was born. Wong immigrated to the United States from China when he was nine years old. His work for Disney began in 1938 when his lush pastel sketches captured the poetic design Walt desired for ‘Bambi,’ a style modeled after paintings of the Song dynasty. Wong became a lead artist on ‘Bambi’ and was later considered one of the most influential Asian-American artists of the 20th century. [115 years ago in 2025]
