Parr House - Artisan Club - Cotino - A Storyliving by Disney Community

Step Into an Incredible World When Visiting the Parr House at Cotino – A Storyliving by Disney Community

The Artisan Club at Cotino – A Storyliving by Disney Community is now officially open in Rancho Mirage, California. This first community of its kind allows residents to not just live in a community that has the Disney difference. It also has the option to be a part of the Artisan Club. There, even more stories and inspiration can be found! At the club, there is the Architects Fork, and its delicious food and a beautiful view for guests to enjoy. Down by the beautiful waters of Cotino Bay is Plot Twist, a beachside bar that also has some lovely views. There is also a wellness center, outdoor courts for pickleball or tennis, and even studios for arts and activities! On top of all of these offerings, there is another incredible one. The Parr House is a recreation of the house that the Parr family lives in during the events of Incredibles 2.

In Incredibles 2, the Parr family lives in a house that was actually inspired by the Palm Springs area when Pixar artists were creating it. Now, the circle is complete as the inspiration from the Palm Springs area led to a house on the silver screen in the world of The Incredibles that has now been physically recreated. This recreation really is impressive. Walking up to the house, it is very clear what it is supposed to be. The resemblance is impossible to miss. Walking up on the path, it is very easy to imagine Dash racing out to say hi (this doesn’t happen; there aren’t Disney characters at Cotino)! From the design of the house to the incorporation of the rockwork that starts outside and continues in, the house feels very familiar to those who have seen the film.

Walking Into Incredibles 2

Walking in the door and the recreation comes to life even more. That first moment really is awe-inspiring, just as it was for the Parr family when they entered their version of it in the film. The floor-to-roof windows that give a gorgeous view of Cotino Bay are stunning with the mountains in the distance. The retro furnishings throughout the room (and house) fit the vibe perfectly. There is even a classic-looking TV and fireplace that are very similar to what is seen in the movie.

Details in Decor

This is just the start, however. Throughout the house, there are six bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a bar, a boardroom, an art studio, and a covered patio. Throughout each of these rooms and spaces, details continue the story of The Incredibles. Some are more obvious than others, like a calendar found on a wall just off the kitchen. There is a very intentional balance of continuing the story while not overdoing it. A Disney fan will geek out about these details. Someone who hasn’t seen the film will still appreciate the look and vibe of the decor of the house.

Highlights

Living Room

Many parts of the house could easily be a favorite. However, I’m going to narrow it down to just two. These are also two of the most common places to gather by a family or group of friends (or even business people, I suppose). First off, the living room is an absolutely beautiful space. The windows and view are impossible to beat. The furniture in the room is placed in a way that can be enjoyed by a small or large group. There are different areas in the room to allow for multiple conversations to happen in a comfortable way. The floating hallway upstairs that looks down into it is also a wonderful place to stand and chat, or take a picture or three. This is a space that doesn’t just recreate the living room in the movie. It is brilliantly planned to be conducive to hosting people.

Kitchen

The second room that should be highlighted is the kitchen. The kitchen is right off the main living room and has vibrant retro colors, space for chatting, space for cooking, and space for sitting! It even has the stove facing in the right direction so that whoever is cooking can prep and also cook while interacting with their guests. Some kitchens force the person cooking to have their back to their guests, which is a miss, I think. Both the island and the table in the kitchen have plenty of room to sit and hang out while cooking, during the main meal, or just because it is a fun space! There is also a bonus prep kitchen through a door in the corner of the kitchen for parties (like after the opening moment for the Artisan Club).

Throughout the rest of the house, there are other wonderful spaces with fun details or magnificent views. The house is massive but doesn’t feel impossibly big. In fact, it feels quite homey. While it leans into a retro vibe, it also has all the modern amenities one would assume a new building like this would have. The boardroom, in particular, jumped out at me. This is a place that would be great for a family get-together, a business retreat, weddings, or the ultimate Christmas party (can you imagine a Christmas tree in the living room!?)!

Parr House & Cotino

The Parr House can be booked by members of the Artisan Club for an additional fee. It can also be rented by members for overnight stays. Cotino – A Storyliving by Disney Community is a new type of community. It was brought to life through a collaboration of Walt Disney Imagineering and DMB Development, known for successful large-scale communities across the U.S. This provides a community where residents can enjoy the beauty of the natural beauty of the desert in the Palm Springs region. The houses were built by Shea Homes, Woodbridge Pacific Group, and Davidson Communities. See tours and read thoughts on three of the houses here. The community is a celebration of the Coachella Valley and the connection that Disney (particularly Walt Disney) has with the region. It is a beautiful combination of Disney, the surrounding community, and the environment. It celebrates the location with a dash of Disney magic. More information can be found at Cotino.com.
