If you ever wonder what you can do on the third Sunday of the month that’s related to Disney and free, you may want to check out Walt Disney’s Carolwood Barn in Griffith Park.
At Walt’s Barn, you can discover a combined exhibit as well as other fun exhibits. You may even be able to enjoy a ride on a miniature train thanks to the L. A. Live Steamers. However, these rides are not free, and there is a suggested donation of $4 per person.

This Sunday, October 19, Walt’s Barn will host Stanford Freese. Freese helped audition musicians for the Main Street Philharmonic at Magic Kingdom Park for Walt Disney World’s grand opening. Freese remained at Walt Disney World until 1974. He was then transferred to Disneyland to lead the Disneyland Band. In 1983, Freese became a talent booking director at Disneyland and was responsible for auditioning and hiring musicians and bands for work in the park and special events.
Freese returned to lead the Disneyland Band in 1990 and remained director for two years. Freese also worked with Walt Disney Imagineering to retheme several nightclubs at the former Pleasure Island at Walt Disney World, as well as oversee the development of atmosphere entertainment at Tokyo DisneySea. Freese retired from Disney in 2016 and became a full-time entertainment consultant.
Freese will be signing copies of his book “Music, Mayhem, and the Mouse” at Walt’s Barn from 11 am to 3 pm. Copies of the book will be available at the event for purchase.
Walt’s Barn is located at 5202 Zoo Drive, Los Angeles, in GriffithPark. There is free parking and a dedicated entry gate. While entry to Walt’s Barn is free, donations are encouraged. Please note that all scheduled events at Walt’s Barn are subject to change without notice.
