Walt Disney’s Carolwood Barn in Griffith Park hosts an open house on the third Sunday of every month from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, inviting guests of all ages to tour the barn. Special guests and activities are usually part of the experience, which add to the fun of the day.
This month, the Carolwood Barn is pleased to welcome author Ken Bruce with his book “Before the Birds Sang Words,” the story of the development of Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland. This recounting of Walt Disney’s earliest Audio-Animatronic attraction is filled with colorful stories and delightful details. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
During your visit, you are invited to tour Walt Disney’s Carolwood Barn, Walt’s original home workshop and the birthplace of Imagineering. Displays include treasures from the backyard railroads of Walt Disney, Ward Kimball and Ollie Johnston, as well as an operating model of Disneyland’s classic Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland attraction, which ran from 1960 to January 1977 in Frontierland.
Also on the property are the restored Santa Fe and Disneyland Railroad combine car and Ollie Johnston’s backyard La Canada Valley Railroad depot.
At 2:30 PM, guests are invited to the formal flag retreat ceremony to signal the close of the operating day.
Reservations and tickets are not required to visit Walt’s Barn and its associated displays. Parking is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. You can follow Walt’s Barn on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates.
