September 8 is Star Trek Day. This year marks the 59th anniversary of the sci-fi franchise. As Star Trek heads into its 60th anniversary, there were quite a few announcements made. This includes some new content, a new collaboration with LEGO, and a new series. The new series, aimed at very young Star Trek fans, is called Star Trek: Scouts. This is the first pre-school show for the franchise. According to the announcement for the series, “Star Trek: Scouts follows three 8-year-old friends — JR, Sprocket and Roo — as they train to become future Starfleet Explorers by going on epic, out-of-this-world missions that push them to ‘discover, grow and boldly go!’” Below is the trailer for this new series that was developed and produced by Nickelodeon Digital Studio in association with CBS Studios.
On Star Trek Day, two episodes of the short-form series (3-4 minutes each) are now available on Nickelodeon’s Blaze and the Monster Machines YouTube channel. The rest of the 20 episodes that have been ordered will continue to be released throughout this year and into next year.
