On Thursday, August 14, 2025, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! transformed into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark. Mission: BREAKOUT! closed at 2:00 PM with Monsters After Dark opening an hour later. At the time, a cast member held the line while the attraction transformed to its spooky overlay. Guests in line at the time remained in line until the attraction opened at 3:00 PM. Shortly after, the line grew to over an hour as guests discovered that the Halloween overlay had opened ahead of the arrival of Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort on August 22, 2025. Shortly after 4:00 PM, the queue for the attraction stretched over an hour in length.
The Disneyland website still shows Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark as opening on August 22nd. However, it also shows the hours it is open for today.

Do you have what it takes to save Groot from crazed creatures on the loose?
Amid the chaos of the Guardians of the Galaxy’s rescue attempt, Groot got left behind. Even worse, the Collector’s Fortress is now mired in a total state of emergency—and overrun with menacing beasts.
Your objective? Team up with Rocket to return to the fortress, distract the monsters and escape with his buddy in tow—but proceed with caution. With the Guardians of the Galaxy involved, the plan is bound to run into a few unexpected ups and downs!

Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark is scheduled to be offered throughout the Halloween season on a daily basis. It will also be available for guests who are attending the after-hours Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party. Along with opening Monsters After Dark today, the Disneyland Resort also revealed a first look at Syndrome and Maleficent for Oogie Boogie Bash.
