On this day in 1940, the Donald Duck short ‘Donald’s Vacation’ was released. Donald seeks a peaceful camping retreat, but as usual, runs into difficulty. The kayak trip to his campsite heads over a waterfall. Donald’s attempt to set up a folding chair draws the attention of some hungry chipmunks, who quickly make off with his food. Attempting to get it back, Donald gets on the wrong side of a bear! This early version of Chip ‘n’ Dale would inspire their own cartoon in 1947. [85 years ago in 2025]
